Red Carpet Rundown: Women We Love, Looks We Loathe This Week At Cannes

So many of our favorite ladies are in France right now! Today’s Cannes Film Festival red carpet update features Jessica Chastain, Milla Jovovich (up there, looking amazing), Catherine Deneuve, Kylie Minogue, Aishwarya Rai, Marion Cotillard, Dita von Teese–but it’s still Cannes, so the fameballs are out in full force. Expect some really ridiculous looks from Bai Ling and co, too.

Ahead, all the events since our weekend red carpet roundup, featuring a Bvlgari party and a bunch of premieres, like As I Lay Dying, Cleopatra and Blood Ties. More »

Wed Bed Dead Rum Tum Tugger Is Sexy But We Feel Weird About It

Wed Bed Dead Rum Tum Tugger Is Sexy But We Feel Weird About It

This week, we’re sitting things out because we don’t know anything about musicals–but Jennifer sure does. Another expert in the field is Flavorpill deputy editor (and longtime Gloss pal) Tyler Coates. In today’s installment of WBD, they’re butting heads on three of the world’s most famous musical cats (no, not piano cat): they’re playing with bad boy Rum Tum Tugger, the magical Mr Mistoffelees and tragic glamour cat Grizabella. Will Tugger’s raw sex appeal prevail? Or magic? This is weird. More »

Fashion Disasters: Naya Rivera Wore The Worst Crop Top Red Carpet Look Yet

Fashion Disasters: Naya Rivera Wore The Worst Crop Top Red Carpet Look Yet

Yes, crop tops are a big Spring trend.

While they can totally work (and worked like hell at Miu Miu-look at this photo of Saskia de Brauw on the runway!), we’re really, really hesitant to even bother testing one out because a trend like this just smacks of “Man, those photos are going to be humiliating in ten years.” Then again, if you can look back fondly on high school photos featuring blue lipstick, lace-up jeans, dusters and chokers–you’re a bigger person than us. Shopping Guide: Our Favorite Eye Makeup For A Gorgeous Spring Look

Shopping Guide: Our Favorite Eye Makeup For A Gorgeous Spring Look

It’s Springtime! That means big changes to makeup routines: gone is the matte skin, the moody ’90s lip colors, the heavy mascara, the cat’s eyes. Instead, skin gets dewier, cheeks get highlighted, liner is going from black to electric blue and moss green and lips are getting real, real bold.

This is our third Spring beauty feature for May–the first (on face) is here, the second (on lips) is here. This week, we’re focusing on a surprisingly statement-ready category: the eyes.

Usually the Spring runways are all bold lips and pristine faces; while that will certainly be true IRL, there are a lot of eye-focused runway looks you can also replicate at home. Maybe the pink on pink craziness up there at Donna Karan is too much for you, but incorporating Spring’s big colors–blue, green, yellow, and pink–is easier than you think.

We have been testing LOTS of shadows and palettes these past few weeks and ahead you’ll find some of our favorites from Hourglass, NARS, tarte, MAC, Make, Shu Uemura, Urban Decay, Make Up For Ever, Tom Ford and more… More »

Blogger Responds To Abercrombie CEO’s Body Shaming With ‘Fat Abercrombie Ads’

Blogger Responds To Abercrombie CEO's Body Shaming With 'Fat Abercrombie Ads'

A little while ago, Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Clayface Mike Jeffries made some really awful comments about why his fratty Americana mall clothes don’t come in larger sizes. A recent article (focusing on the brand’s desire for thin, popular customers) brought the comments back around and a new outcry surged on the internet, especially from the fat acceptance community. One blogger, Jes at The Militant Baker, decided to write an open letter to Jeffries.

…Even better, she did a photoshoot to accompany that letter, imagining ‘fat Abercrombie ads’ that reflect positive body image. More »
