The 2015 Grammy Awards was ripe with gorgeous gowns and stunning accessories, but one element that is always necessary for the perfect look: solid hair and makeup. We were definitely impressed by so many of the color palettes and beauty trends celebs’ stylists and makeup artists chose, but the coolest thing was how so many stars whom we see at event after event actually tried something different for a change, so that actually made this one a more exciting red carpet than most.
From Beyonce‘s unexpectedly quiet makeup to Taylor‘s perfect bob to Miley‘s toned-down sex appeal, this is the best beauty of the 2015 Grammy Awards red carpet.
I just want you all to know I’m resisting the urge to make an “all about that base makeup” joke here, because I love Meghan’s whole beauty look. She’s got the sombre trend down pat.
And winner of the most fantastic lipstick of the night goes to…Jennifer Hudson! An all-white dress with minimal accessories and simple hair plus a stunning lip? Whomever is styling Jennifer, you win. You win all the prizes.
Zendaya’s close crop is perfectly styled in that it is generally left alone, just more proof that subdued, quieter hair can be a total win on the red carpet. Plus, that metallic purple lipstick somehow looks really cool rather than tacky, especially with her perfect brows, so Zendaya gets twice the applause.
The world may disagree with me, but I think Kim totally slayed it on the beauty front. Her hair is in a perfectly disheveled lob (the haircut we all fell in love with a few days ago) and her makeup is totally on point. Girl looks good.
Though Ariana chose her typical high, full ponytail for the night, it was styled perfectly and looked polished, particularly with her thick cat eyeliner that felt reminiscent of Brigitte Bardot. Definitely digging it.

Speaking of magic, Beyonce. Beyonce, Beyonce, Beyonce. She looks like a mermaid who has graced us all with her presence on land. The fact that she went so natural with her makeup for such a huge event is fantastic and, as fun as crazier liners and lipsticks may be, very refreshing.
I’m digging Taylor’s radiant complexion and deep sapphire smokey eye, reminiscent of her makeup at the 2014 VMAs. She typically wears a lot of red lipstick and white dresses on red carpets, so this is a nice yet elegant change up.
We were truly, deeply obsessed with Jessie J’s gown because it was insanely perfect. And this deep berry lipstick? Oof, girl. Yassss.
Definitely digging Miley’s toned-down hair and makeup.
I cannot believe I am putting John Mayer on this or any list, but guys, his hair and glasses are really, really great. I want all men to wear their hair like this and put on glasses like that. Please. It’s for the good of the world.
SO INTO THIS HAIR, GAGA. Perhaps it could be because my own hair is currently silver-gray, but I am absolutely obsessed with Gaga’s easygoing Hollywood glamour. As much as I’ll always praise her as the only person to
pull off wear a chicken nugget mask in public, it’s kind of incredible just how classic she can look when she, you know, doesn’t wear giant chicken nugget masks.
