Another year gone by wherein the best-dressed looks from Hollywood’s most glamorous night made us gasp. Of course, that’s not the only thing that made us gasp; there was also a surplus of styles that garnered naught but eye rolls and cringes from critics, including in the makeup department. From too much contouring makeup to an overindulgence in hairspray, these were the worst beauty looks of the 2015 Academy Awards red carpet.
From Jared Leto‘s split ends to Reese Witherspoon‘s awkward middle part, we’ve got all the most disappointing looks covered. Let us know if you disagree with us! After all, bronzer is in the eye of the beholder.
Whoa there, what’s going on with this ridiculous amount of bronzer? Is Rosamund trying to pull off an Alex Mac post-melting thing here?
I feel like Naomi Watts is one of those celebrities whom everybody likes and she is generally great looking all the time so she rarely gets on any worst-dressed lists, but while this gown was pretty, her hair looked hastily thrown-together and this lipstick is wholly unflattering.
A rare misstep for Ms. Jones, these bangs look overgrown and do not work well with her strong makeup.
An unflattering center part and extra heavy bronzer don’t work well with the simple elegance of her black-and-white Tom Ford gown.
There was a time when the lead singer of every emo band wore his hair just like this.
Oof, Nicole’s hair could not be more stereotypical soccer mom if it were complete with a minivan bobby pin.

We love Jane The Virgin‘s breakout star, even when she loses a falsie from adorably crying, but this over-styled poof is stiff from too much hairspray.
As much as I loved J. Lo’s Elie Saab gown, her makeup was beyond bad. The bubblegum pink lip color combined with the pinkeye-status eye makeup and bronzer surplus do nothing for her beautiful face.
I actually dug Margot’s sheer black gown, but her side part veered into the way-too-deep zone and wound up looking more like she was trying to cover up dandruff than actually doing a proper red carpet style.
Remember how I said those forehead-level topknots at Marc Jacobs Fall 2015 would look impractical in real life?
This is a perfect example of why doing slicked-back hair and tons of makeup makes you look sweaty rather than glowing. Geez, Louise. (Hyuuuuck!)
