There’s an interview with Alexa Ray Joel in this week’s New York magazine, and in it she addresses everything from rumors she tried to kill herself last year to reports that she got a nose job. While she’s adamant that the hospitalization was accidental, she has no qualms talking about her plastic surgery. While she doesn’t mention whether it’s true she and Christie Brinkley got mother/daughter procedures, Alexa does talk about her own rhinoplasty:
“I love my new nose!” Alexa Ray Joel says, smiling. “I could talk about my new nose all day. See, they shaved off the bump.” She turns her head to display her new profile. “There’s no great shame in having your nose fixed,” she says. “It’s not like I’m hiding some drug problem.”
While I’m not sure if I’d ever go under the knife voluntarily myself, I do give Alexa credit for being open about having work done. There are plenty of celebrities who either refuse to admit they had anything done (despite tons of photo evidence to the contrary) or who pull out that old “I had a deviated septum!” warhorse (cough cough Ashlee Simpson). Honesty goes a long way, and I appeciate that Alexa was truthful. That said, maybe in the future, aspiring singers will like their noses just the way they are, but I guess we’re taking it one step at a time here.
