The Guess campaign made Anna Nicole Smith a superstar when she took over for Claudia Schiffer in the early ’90s. Now, since all children of all famous people are doing what their parents did because it’s way easy, Smith’s daughter Dannielynn Birkhead has decided, naturally, to follow in her mother’s footsteps and star in an upcoming Guess campaign.
Of course, by “decided” we obviously don’t mean that, because Birkhead is six years old, a striking fact that won’t keep anyone involved from fawning breathlessly to the press. The brand’s creative director Paul Marciano had this to say of the campaign: “Dannielynn has the same playful spirit that her mother had on a set. She is a second-generation GUESS girl, which makes this campaign a first for us.”
We’re never going to have the popular opinion around here–we think child modeling is gross, sorry not sorry–but praising a six-year-old for her playfulness at least strikes everyone as absurd, right? Not just us?
Moreover, it’s not like a six year old got it in her head she wanted to be a model (and specifically model for the Guess campaign). We’d prefer to use our brains and remember every time her fameballing father Larry Birkhead has called the paparazzi for a photo-op or paraded Danielynn around some event for access to the gifting suite.
