New York Fashion Week is well underway. We’re being inundated with fresh beauty looks from the glamorous to the extreme. The Anna Sui Spring 2018 show presented a fresh take on how to pull off glitter.

Glitter tends to be relegated to evening or festivals because the looks often involve a major dusting of glitter. See: Glitter roots, glitter pits, and, erm, glitter tongues. However, the Anna Sui show proved that glitter could be pretty in a subtle way.

Models’ eyes were left mostly bare save for a thin stripe of shimmering silver liner down the center of the eyes. It was so subtle that you might not even notice it’s there, but you would have noticed the lit-from-within-glow it gave the eye area.

The look is reminiscent of glitter tears, but Anna Sui told WWD that the makeup represented “optimism” and it’s more accurately described as “twinkles.” Whether you call it glitter stripes, glitter twinkles, or something else, the important thing is that you grab a shimmering metallic eyeliner and try it out for yourself.
