Whether you’re carrying a clutch or a decently-sized tote bag, what you stash in there for New Year’s Eve is super important.

When you have to make sure your beauty look is on point all night, you can’t leave that up to luck of the draw. You need to be on the defensive of everything from lipstick smears on drinks, to smudged eyeliner, to a major meltdown of foundation. If you want to kick of 2016 on a good note, make sure your lips are doing the talking that you want them to and that your eyeliner is even. Bringing a few beauty products brought along for the ride couldn’t hurt, especially if you’re out way past midnight.

These are 8 beauty products you can stash in your bag for your NYE night out to make sure you’re looking great all night long.

Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick (Sephora, $10)

Some of the best advice I was ever given was to find your favorite lippie in a travel size and keep it on you at all times. Carrying a full-size lipstick is annoying sometimes, especially if you’re crammed for space in a clutch, so a mini size will do the trick for touch-ups without crowding your bag.

boscia Black Charcoal Blotting Linens (Sephora, $10)

Blotting papers are always a good thing to have around, especially if you’re going out on NYE to a place that’s going to get crowded. Lots of people + alcohol = sweaty mess. So stash this pack in your bag and run to the bathroom whenever you think you’ll need a quick fix.

Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional: License to Blot (Ulta, $20)

On the same point, this little stick of loveliness is smaller than blotting sheets and a little less obvious that you’re sucking up oil from your face. Dab this guy on the spots you think are a little too shiny for your liking and it sops up all the extra gunk you don’t want floating around while you’re trying to get your New Year’s Eve flirt on.

Hollywood Fashion Tape Double-Stick Strips (Amazon, $9.08)

If you’ve got a dress that’s cut down to there and you’re going dancing, chances are you aren’t planning on giving the dance floor a free show of your nipples. Fashion tape is great for those slightly complicated outfits you might choose to wear for the night, plus if you end up with a hole in your dress or a busted seam, this will help keep them in place.

Almay Makeup Eraser Sticks (, $4.40)

If you do not already swear by these, you’d better start to. Makeup remove sticks are a god-send, especially for a night out. They are pretty small and easily stashed in a bag and help keep you from attempting to fix a smudged eyeliner and ending up streaking it across your entire eyelid.

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray – 1oz (Sephora, $14)

Setting spray is another must have. Melted foundation is a look I wouldn’t wish on even my worst enemy and this one will help keep everything you want looking good in place. Plus, this one comes in a small size that would fit in any bag.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector™ – Travel Size (Sephora, $19)

A highlighter is a great thing to keep in your bag as well, but if you’re a little scared to potentially lose something you love (and spent $20+ on) find a great illuminator (like this one from BECCA) and throw that in there. It’s great for after you leave the party and still want to look at least a little presentable.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo – 1.8oz (Sephora, $12)

Dry shampoo is your new best friend. Say it with me again. DRY SHAMPOO IS YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND. Not only will this keep your hair looking good all night, if you happen to get caught up somewhere you won’t be able to shower at and need to book it home, this will help you look less like a grease monkey in the morning.
