The Kardashians and Jenners are quickly gaining a monopoly on the beauty industry, which is both glorious and concerning. After the wholly underrated Kardashian Beauty line, there were Kylie Jenner‘s lip kits, a nail polish collection, and a promise of a full cosmetics line, and then Kendall Jenner hopped on the bandwagon with a new eyeshadow palette for Estee Lauder. Now, since all of that apparently wasn’t enough, Caitlyn Jenner is joining the party. Well, maybe.
According to TMZ, “Caitlyn recently filed a trademark for exclusive rights to hawk makeup under her name.” In an effort to corroborate this claim (because #LOL TMZ, am I right?), Refinery29 took to Trademarkia, a search engine that allows you to look up trademarked names and logos. There they found that a page related to Caitlyn Jenner under the name “Cait’s World, Inc.,” does indeed come up, suggesting that there could be some truth to this claim. They found that, according to the listing on the site, the items released under trademark could include everything from fragrances and nail care to skincare and cleansers.
More than just another feather in the Jenner Cosmetics Line cap, it would be pretty amazing to see an original cosmetics line produced by a transgender woman. It would be a break from traditional gender norms that I don’t think anyone even realized was missing from the industry. After all, with transgender models landing major covers, appearing in mainstream fashion magazines, walking on runways, and acting as the face of major brands and campaigns, it’s easy for us to forget that there are so many areas of fashion and beauty yet unexplored by the transgender community. And with so many family members already well-versed in the beauty industry, Caitlyn could be incredibly well-positioned to make moves.
That said, launching a full-on beauty line could be a bit of a stretch of Caitlyn, as it would honestly be a bit of a stretch for anyone. Perhaps she should go the way of Kylie and Kendall and just start by mastering one product, or maybe even by getting her feet wet by working on a collaboration with one of her kids. Perhaps that would make such an endeavor seem slightly less daunting.
Then again, I have a feeling that you can never tell a Jenner what they can or can’t do.
