Chanel nail polish has always been the stuff of legends. I searched far and wide before I found an adequate dupe for their iconic holographic shade, and it’s a long-established fact that if your go-to color is anything by Chanel, you’re probably the coolest person anyone’s ever had the pleasure to meet. Now, because it’s Chanel and when they say “jump” you say “how high,” they’re launching a new line of long-wear Le Vernis nail polishes, and you’re going to fall in love. It’s that easy.
Long-wear polishes are a pretty big deal right now, what with the whole gel manicure and acrylic trend going strong, so it shouldn’t come as a real surprise that Chanel is here just in time to swoop in and claim its rightful spot as the champion of all things beauty.
There will be 15 shades in the new collection, as well as one top coat meant to extend your lacquer’s life long past the point of a standard mani. A handful of the bestselling shades (Ballerina, a pale nude pink; Particuliere, a taupe-y brown; Vamp, a deep oxblood; Pirate, a true red; and Rouge Noir, a merlot-y maroon so dark it looks almost black on the nails) were kept, with 10 new shades created specifically for this new launch and with current color trends in mind.
If you’re a manicure lover but hate having to constantly re-up your look, a long-wear polish might be for you. It has all the benefits of a gel polish without any of the dermatological dangers of UV light or added chemicals. As someone who taps off tips of her regular manicure on her keyboard every day, I can attest to their effectiveness. According to celebrity manicurist and Chanel ambassador Ashlie Johnson, the polish is already a favorite among her clients, including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kirsten Dunst, and Brie Larson:
“I love that the new formula not only lasts longer, but that it actually helps to repair the condition of your natural nails. My nails feel more protected and conditioned when wearing it; the thicker formula is more durable and super shiny.Everyone has really loved the new shades and how fast it dries. [They are] always very busy so that’s an added bonus.”
Considering how quickly Chanel’s polishes achieved cult-following status, you’ll want to act fast. The line doesn’t come out until spring, but you can pre-order your polishes now for $28 (an investment, for sure, but nail polishes do last a very long time, especially if your refrigerate them) on Chanel’s website.

Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Shantung
Nails Inc came out with a very similar shade in their Alice + Olivia winter collection, but that doesn’t make love this creamy raspberry shade any less. Also, I’m convinced that raspberry is the new red, but that’s just me.
Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Mariniere
OPI‘s Russian Navy was the shade that first got me interested in nail polish, but this more monochromatic navy blue seems like a more grown-up version of that.
Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Garconne
Say what you will about Essie‘s Chinchilly (I’ll go ahead and say that I love it and will use my bottle until it’s old and dry), but this is its cool, slightly more khaki older sister.
Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Chaine Or
I mean, of course Chanel would come out with the perfect shimmery gold. It instantly reminds me of champagne, and when you’ve got champagne in (well, on, really) your hands, you can’t have a bad day.

Eggplant is the new black.
