There is nothing wrong with black mascara. It’s an essential part of every makeup bag and it can tun the stubbiest of lashes into a thick, flirty fringe. However, we shouldn’t become so obsessed with black mascara that we forget to look at all of the other options out there. Colored mascaras are sometimes forgotten about because of our black addiction, but it’s time that changed.

The summer is the perfect time to experiment with colored mascaras. They add a pop of color to any beauty look. And unlike eyeshadow, you don’t have to worry about them migrating down your face when the temperatures soar.

Saying that you can’t find any good colored mascaras to play around with isn’t an excuse. There are tons of flattering options to choose from. MAC Cosmetics recently launched a collection of colored mascaras and YSL’s have been longtime favorites of many makeup artists. So, grab your colorful mascaras and have a look at ways you can wear them.

Okay, so white isn’t technically a color. However, it’s so different from black that it deserves a spot on the list. Instead of an ice queen look, pair your white mascara with purple liner for a fresh finish.

2. Red Eyeshadow and Yellow Mascara

Now this is what you call a fire stare. Yellow mascara and red eyeshadow often intimidate people individually but this look should help you get over your fear of both simultaneously.

3. Blue Eyeshadow and Turquoise Mascara

This is a bold look, but it’s actually easy to pull off. Swipe some blue shadow across your lids then finish things off with a few coats of turquoise mascara on the top and bottom lashes. And don’t forget your peach lip gloss.

4. Blue Liquid Liner and Mascara

Worried about your colored mascara not working with the rest of your makeup? Coordinate your eyeliner with it. We love this cobalt blue combination.

5. Black and Red Mascara

This is how you do red eye makeup without it looking like you have an eye infection. That pop of red lights up her entire face.

6. Green Liner and Mascara

Here’s your proof that green mascara can actually be quite subtle. Draw on a feline flick with emerald green lighter. Then add a few coats of lime green mascara to your bottom lashes.

7. Red Mascara, Eyeliner and Lips

Look closely and you will see that is actually red mascara. There is a whole lot of red in this look, however, it’s not overpowering or unflattering. It’s actually stunning.

8. Purple Eyeshadow and Mascara with Red Liner

Would you believe us if were said that is purple mascara instead of black? Well, it is. It helps tie in the purple shadow in the crease. And most people will feel comfortable with it because it’s not that different from black.

9. Blue and Turquoise Mascara

Why stop at only using one colorful mascara? Try a bold blue on the roots of your lashes with a lighter shade on the tips. Then keep the rest of your makeup simple so it won’t compete with your statement lashes.

10. Teal Mascara and Brown Eyeshadow

Teal mascara will do amazing things for any eye color. Have a gander at this look for proof.

11. Turquoise Mascara and Blue Lipstick

Pro Tip: You don’t have to apply colored mascara to your entire eye. Wearing it only on the bottom lashes is a very flattering look. And if you want to throw a bold lippy into the mix, be our guest.
