I feel like I sound more like a broken record than a writer at this point, but I’ll start this article the same way I start every single skincare article I’ve ever written for sake of ease and, well, consistency: I’m just not a skincare girl. It’s not that I don’t want to be, it’s just that I’m lazy and I’d rather slap myself in the face with a makeup remover wipe and a Noxema pad and call it a night rather than spend 10 minutes before bed in front of the mirror peeling off face masks and moisturizers. That doesn’t mean I won’t spend that same amount of time perfecting my peaks when applying liquid lipstick, but you know what? That’s fine. I never said I was a perfect person.

But then I received a glorious package in the mail. It was one that I wasn’t expecting, and moreover, it was one that I didn’t know I wanted. What was it, you ask? Well, if you read the title of this piece like the observant little lass (or lad) that you are, you’d know that it was the new bareMinerals SKINSORIALS skincare line in its entirety. As a newly converted bareMinerals concealer fan, I was anxious to see if this would be the skincare line that would actually do what other only deigned to do.

Some quick facts before we get down the nitty gritty. The line includes the following products:

  • Pure Plush Gentle Deep Cleansing Foam ($22)
  • Clay Chameleon Transforming Purifying Cleanser ($22)
  • Oil Obsessed Total Cleansing Oil ($30)
  • Blemish Ready Acne Treatment Gelée Cleanser ($20)
  • Skinlongevity Vital Power Infusion ($45)
  • True Oasis Oil-Free Replenishing Gel Cream ($32)
  • Smart Combination Smoothing Lightweight Emulsion ($35)
  • Bare Haven Essential Moisturizing Soft Cream ($35)
  • Butter Drench Restorative Rich Cream ($38)

If you’re overwhelmed, you’re not alone—when I first opened the package, I didn’t know where to look first. But as I looked into the line, things starting falling into place. According to a press release,

“The SKINSORIALS Skincare 3-part beauty ritual is designed to deliver a personal and customizable sensory experience for you pampering your skin. Consisting of three essential pillars—purify, empower, moisturize—the collection was created to promote beautifully resilient and healthier looking skin with every use.”

So, if I’m to understand this correctly, you’re not necessarily supposed to use all of the the products in the line. Rather, you can pick and choose in accordance with your needs and skin type.

Since I have very sensitive skin, I decided that it would be wise to stick to the most mild options (the Pure Plush cleanser and the Bare Haven moisturizer for normal to dry skin) and try the routine for one full week. And what a week it was.

I’ll say right off the bat that the reason I didn’t feel the need to post any before and after pictures is because, even if I did, you wouldn’t actually a see a noticeable difference in my skin. One of the reasons I never got into skincare when I was younger is because, frankly, I just never had problem skin. My main problems are sensitivity and winter dryness, neither of which are visible issues. The lack of immediately noticeable physical change, though, doesn’t speak at all to the effectiveness of the products. After just one use, my skin felt softer and cleaner, and it had brightened up after the first three days. Plus, the moisturizer is all kinds of soft without leaving any annoying oily residue or that damp feeling (you know the one) you get from using a particularly wet moisturizer.

All in all, bareMinerals delivered with their new skincare line (which should come as no surprise to anyone who’s ever given their makeup a try). Since the line in its entirety is a huge investment, I would definitely recommend taking the time to go through each product to decide what would work best. The pick-and-choose aspect of this line is unique to lower-priced, more popular skincare lines, and it’s one you should take advantage of. As for me, I’m all about this line, and I can’t wait to give the different products a try.

That said, I still have my makeup wipe and Noxema pad nights. Like I said, I’m not a perfect person.
