If you’ve been searching for inspiration for your festival season beauty look, you might have noticed one particular look that has been popping up over and over. No, it’s not rainbow hair. And it’s something besides glittery makeup looks. One of the latest and most surprising festival beauty trends we are seeing is the fake lip ring makeup look.

The look involves applying a thing line of makeup on your lip to mimic the look of a lip piercing. A slash of silver on the bottom lip is the most popular option, but people are also experimenting with other colors including gold. Furthermore, some extend the line up so that it covers both lips. Allure pointed out that some people have been inspired by Kim Karadshian‘s faux lip piercing while others are clearly just getting creative with their lipsticks.

I wanted to try something a little different, but I'm honestly not sure of it. I wanted to get back into some lip swatching of colors, in addition to my arm swatches. You can rock the trend on a bare lip or you could try it with a matte lipstick or even a glossy lip. Unlike an actual lip piercing, you don’t have to be as concerned with the colors messing up your faux one.

And here’s a tip: Instead of wondering about where you are going to find the perfect silver or gold lipstick from, you can create your lip piercing with a metallic eye pencil or liquid liner.

If you’re craving something besides your glitter or ombre lips, the fake lip piercing look is a brilliant option. However, there is nothing stopping you from adding the detail on top of one of your other favorite lipstick looks. The key is choosing colors where the “lip ring” won’t get lost.

If you’ve always wanted to do full-on face paint for festivals but weren’t sure you could pull it off, this is a great way to try the trend out. What’s more, you could easily expand it to include other “fake piercings” such as nose, eyebrow and even chin ones. It is festival season and it’s all about being creative.
