Did you love Thylane Blondeau—the controversial child model–but felt her stardom lacked nepotism? Have we got a story for you*: meet Duda Bundchen, 5-year-old niece of supermodel Gisele Bundchen. This little Bundchen is both a model and a designer (because of nepotism and fashion’s laissez-faire attitude toward language) and she’s in the midst of launching a collection of kid’s clothes in collaboration with Brazilian brand Brandili Mundi.
It all started when Bundchen was named spokesmodel for the brand last year. The campaign was such a success that she was offered an extension of her contract as well as an opportunity to design a collection. The prosaically named Duda Bundchen For Brandili Mundi will hit stores in July. Speaking of words that don’t mean anything, the collection was also designed with “eco-friendly materials.” Rest easy.
As for the design process–the design process involving a 5-year-old–the commercial and marketing director of Brandili Mundi’s parent company, Germano Costa explained:
“She told us about her preferences on prints, cuts and details, and based on the briefing we received from her we came up with a collaborative collection. The pieces were all approved by Duda, whose romantic inspiration will no doubt catch girls’ eyes.”
And we’re going to have to stop there because every time kids become famous and get photographed and treated like marketing tools and are expected to stay on-narrative for some company… we don’t like it.
So! Here’s the campaign video:
