Guerlain Terracotta Loose Powder Kohl Liner
Terracotta Loose Powder Kohl Liner
An exceptionally elegant eye makeup innovation, this ultra fine, loose powder, with a touch of iridescence, can be applied as an eyeliner using the wand applicator or applied as an eyeshadow using the brush.
This baby has my mind reeling. I’m absolutely intrigued! Admittedly, I’m not as familiar to the use of Kohl as I’d want to be, though, I do have a white Kohl pencil that I particularly am fond of. More on that in a later post.
Having come across this elegantly packaged — seemingly like an original container of Middle Eastern Kohls — eyeliner-slash-eyeshadow Kohl cosmetic, I couldn’t help but work on a small feature.
According to Wikipedia, Kohl is known by various names in South Asian languages, like sirma or surma in Punjabi, kajal (Devanagari: काजल, kājal) in Hindi and Urdu, “Katuka” in Telugu, “கண் மை Kan Mai” in Tamil and “Kaadige” in Kannada. In India, it is used by women as a type of eyeliner that is put around the edge of the eyes. Even now in southern rural India, especially in Kerala, women of the household prepare the kajal. This home-made kajal is used even for infants. Local tradition considers it to be a very good coolant for the eyes and believes that it “protects the eyesight and vision”
In my readings, it’s best to make sure that the Kohl you’re purchasing doesn’t contain lead sulfate as certain kohl preparations. We are all aware of the toxicity in lead, yea? And it’s also good to note whether the makeup is simply using the term “Kohl” to describe its shade or colour rather than its actual ingredient or what it is made of.
This brings me to wonder if this Guerlain liner is indeed a “healthy” Kohl or simply labeled as such to describe its shade. Would any of you know? Also, I’d appreciate thoughts on how this baby fares. Is it any good? Is it value for money?
I’ve read some reviews and they say that it’s amazing and versatile. It gives eyes an intense, sultry look. Long wearing, too!
The Terracotta Loose Powder Kohl Liner is available in other shades: Black 1 (deep charcoal black), Brun 2 (golden brown), and Blue 3 (deep teal blue) and is priced at $33 over at Sephora.
