Premiere Of Summit Entertainment's "Draft Day" - Arrivals

If you’re one of those cocky twenty-somethings (ahem, like me) who believes that she doesn’t need sunscreen because she doesn’t burn, it’s time for a bit of a rude awakening. Jennifer Garner, whose literal job is to look youthful for as long as possible, recently chatted with Elle about the underrated importance of SPF. According to Jennifer,

I think there’s this haze of denial when we’re in our 20s and early 30s where we think, ‘Well, I don’t see any sun damage on my face so I must not be someone who gets dark spots.’ The reality is that it all shows up the day you turn 35. You start to have spots and you think: Why? That’s when you realize all those younger years of overdoing it have caught up to you.

There’s nothing worse than getting good advice from someone who really know what they’re talking about and realizing that you’re a moron if you don’t follow it. I’ve resisted wearing sunscreen in my day-to-day for a long time, and Jennifer’s mini manifesto is making me consider changing my stubborn ways. She slathers the guilt on pretty thick in the rest of the quote, too:

You really should have started wearing it yesterday, so make it as much a part of your day as brushing your teeth, and don’t look back. It’s the most magical thing. It just stops aging.

FINE. While I think that the concept of anti-aging is sexist bullshit, it’s hard to argue with the abundant evidence that sunscreen does great things for your skin. And since Jennifer Garner can make an entire career out of being (among other things) stunningly beautiful, I guess she’s probably qualified to give skincare advice. You win this round, Jen. Where’s my Banana Boat 30?
