Kat Von D Presents Her new Make Up Collection

Makeup collaborations are a dime a dozen these days, what with Gwen Stefani‘s Urban Decay collection and Ashley Tisdale‘s upcoming line with BH Cosmetics. As a result, it’s easy to get a little jaded, and our ability to get excited about new collaborations dwindles as time goes by. But when there’s a potential Too Faced collaboration floating out there in the ether, it’s impossible to not pay attention, especially when that collab is with none other than the glorious Kat Von D

Rumors of such a collaboration started swirling a few months back when Kat posted this not-so-subtle photo to Instagram:

The caption reads, “@katvondbeauty + @toofaced = <3,” so unless Kat just trying out some new version of algebra wherein two different brands add up to an emoji, I’m thinking that this was indicative of great things to come.

After months of radio silence, Too Faced co-founder Jerrod Blandino quietly posted the following photo to his own personal Instagram:

The caption for this glorious shot reads, “True Love… #BetterTogether @thekatvond @toofaced #katvondbeauty #AreYouReady?”

Am I ready? Is that even a question? Obviously I’m not ready. How could be ready for such potential glory as this? And what could that represent? I’m guessing it’s one of two things: either it’s indicative of what the packaging for the collab will look like (somehow I doubt that, though—Kat Von D just doesn’t seem like a bows and frills kind of girl), or it’s just there to hide the prototypes and mood boards for the upcoming collection, which seems more likely. Also, SO to the pup in the corner.

Kat’s latest postings, which went up as recently as yesterday, tell a more concrete tale, though still leave a lot to the imagination. Here’s what went down in the great big world of Instagram:

The caption reads,

“So f*cking excited about my hot date with a certain special brand tomorrow…. Maybe I’ll get to share a few little sneaky-peeks with all you beauty-junkies??? #toofacedxkatvond #toofaced #katvondbeauty #bettertogether #youllneverguesswhatwereupto #comingsoonbutnotsoonenough #getfuckingready”

Even though I’m not a big fan of Too Faced’s Better Than Sex mascara (I know it’s a cult fave, but I think it’s neither Better Than Sex nor Better Than Any Significantly More Affordable Drugstore Mascara), I’ve never been more excited for a potential “sneaky-pee” at anything in my entire natural-born life.

The caption for this one is as follows:

“Seeing the @toofaced headquarters for the first time today was makeup-heaven!”

And, finally, the caption for this glorious photo:

“As much as I wanna share with you guys all the craziness from our upcoming @katvondbeauty + @toofaced collab, I’m gonna have to wait just a little bit longer! All I can say is the wait will be worth it! #TOOFACEDxKATVOND #powercouple #bestcollabever #bettertogether #crueltyfree #comingsoon”

So, yeah. I think this pretty much confirms that a collab is indeed coming. Sadly, it’s doesn’t seem like we’ll be getting any real news about it for a little while, because embargoes and our inability to have nice things. But that hashtag suggesting the entire line is going to be cruelty free? I can get behind that.

The combination of Too Faced and Kat Von D Beauty is definitely an interesting one, considering how starkly different the two are from one another. Kat’s line is proudly edgy and goth chic, whereas Too Faced is more girl, as evidenced by their chocolate-scented bronzer and heart-shaped palettes. That said, the marriage could be a pretty incredible one, and if it’s as good as all of the buzz surrounding it suggests it could be, then it could mean big things for Kat Von D’s already blossoming career in the beauty industry. Buckle up, kids. It’s going to be a fun ride.
