Kate Upton has been named the new face of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and she tweeted a preview photo that is absolutely lovely. They managed to only hint at that bombshell thing Upton does so well, which in some cases can be a bit overdone and trite. But this has a decidedly timeless look, and doesn’t hit us in the face with “I’m a pin up girl!”

Upton, who was recently revealed to be a lot more than just a nice pair of breasts, looks beautiful in a white button down with winged eyeliner, strong brows, and rosy cheeks. I love that it’s not overdone or costumey–it’s just beautifully sexy. The mature and sophisticated look on Upton is a refreshing and somewhat novel take, since she’s normally styled like a spring breaker.
In a promotional video for the campaign (wait, is that a commercial for commercials? Okay), Brown complimented Upton’s confidence and highlighted the role it’s played in her brand, to which Upton responded:
“Coming from you, that’s pretty amazing. Definitely my mom gave me a lot of confidence. I was so excited to meet Bobbi, because you’re such an inspiration and your products have been everywhere growing up. My mom used them. We used them.”
It’s funny that she said that bit about her mom, because Bobbi Brown is one of the brands that I think of most when it comes to “mom brands,” but in the “mom brands that I use” category. Bobbi Brown seems to have found a somewhat ageless niche, which I love. Regardless of your feelings about beauty or makeup, it can be something that mothers and daughters share, and I related to Upton’s statement about sharing Bobbi Brown products with her mom (my mom and I both use Clinique‘s Dramatically Different Lotion. I can’t really stand the smell, but it’s home).
I’m excited to see the campaign in full, and I think the photo we’re working with so far is stunning. The ads will start appearing in magazines in July, so here’s to hoping for more timeless beauty and elegance.
