Katy Perry appeared on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote her new album, and in between typical talk show banter and anecdotes, explained that slime green hair she’s been working for the past few weeks.
You may remember that her hair looks sort of pastel in some pictures and full on radioactive in others, so I’m still completely torn on things. I think I like it, but hey, what do I know?
Well, in case you were wondering where she got the idea for the slime green locks, it turns out that inspiration came from, unsurprisingly, the internet. As she told Kimmel,
“I just have been on this site called Tumblr a lot…I saw some like really cute Japanese girl that had like green tipped hair and I was brought it to the hair stylist and was like ‘Make me her.’ She like, lives in Iowa and has no idea.”
Maybe I’m confused, but I saw the Katy Perry movie at midnight on the night it came out, and from the looks of it, she seemed really, really busy. I am a bit shocked to learn that she has all this time to creep on girls from Iowa on Tumblr for hair inspiration. I was also shocked to learn that all those elementary school students were allowed out to a midnight movie viewing. It’s a bizarre world.
I’m not 100% sold on the slime green hair, and I wonder what future styles we might expect from the Tumblr-inspired Perry. I’m guessing Brandy Melville short shorts, Kurt Cobain shirts, and ennui. Actually, maybe you should stay off Tumblr, Katy. We like you just the way you are.
