Marc Jacobs - Runway - Fall 2016 New York Fashion Week

Beauty is pain my friend, and also potentially losing your eyebrows.

We all know the struggles that models go through at Fashion Week. Whether it’s dealing with how much they are scrutinized for their weight, the not-so-great pay rates, rushing to and from venue when shows inevitably run late, or shoving your feet into shoes that are way too small. There are myriad ways that models torture themselves before strutting down the runway for our viewing pleasure, and one of the most major ways is the lengths they go through for the styled beauty looks for each designer.

I set this all up as a disclaimer, because when Kendall Jenner signed up for becoming a runway model, she also signed up for all the shittiness that comes with it (maybe not the bad pay because, let’s face it, she’s Kendall Jenner). During the Marc Jacobs amazing, gothic runway for NYFW, the models wore heavy white makeup and bleached brows, something that guest model Lady Gaga is very accustomed to but something rookie walkers like Kendall may not be.

In a post on her app, Seventeen reports that Kendall was less-than-happy with the bleach hitting her brow:

“I’ve been asked to alter my appearance in so many ways, it’s not even funny! I think the worst is when designers want to mess with my eyebrows, though. It always freaks me out because every time they do it, I lose them. They literally fall out! It’s bad—I really hate getting a bleach.”

Look, straight up, if someone told me I had to bleach my eye brows, I’d literally tell them to fuck off (in the nicest, yet harshest way possible) and that’s probably why I’m not a model. That, and the fact that I’m 5’1″ and definitely not a size 0 but that’s besides the point. I also really, really like my eyebrows. And while I totally understand giving up your body to a designer when you walk down their runway, I just feel like getting to the point where something they ask you to do could permanently change your face (like her eyebrows potentially never growing back after they fall out, for example) that’s something you need to really consider.

There is good news for Kendall, though. Based on these photos from meeting her new wax figure at Madam Tussands (Side note: can someone please let me know when we decided that when celebs get wax figures, it means that they’ve “made it?” Anyway…), her brows are fine, thankfully. I would pity the person on the end of the line when Kris Jenner gets told her daughter’s money maker has been tarnished.
