Today in breathtaking gender normativity, model Kendra Spears is becoming a princess! After years as a successful fashion model (for the likes of Chanel, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana), the 24-year-old Seattle native is marrying 41-year-old Prince Rahim Aga Khan, son of His Highness Aga Khan IV, Imam of Shia Ismaili Muslims.

Per a press release on the Aga Khan’s website:

His Highness the Aga Khan today announced the engagement of his eldest son, Prince Rahim Aga Khan, to Ms. Kendra Spears of Seattle, Washington, the United States.

The Aga Khan, who is the Spiritual Leader or Imam of the global community of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, said he was delighted to announce the engagement.

The couple will be married in a Muslim ceremony. The date of the marriage has not been set yet.

You can see their engagement photo of here.

While Spears seems like a lovely lady (and has a really great ’90s supermodel throwback thing about her), we can’t help but find it hilarious that her life is now the embodiment of what everyone (–with something to sell) believes women want: good looks so conventional you can make a living off of them, marrying a rich older man and, to top it off, ending up with a crown (or garland of flowers)?

Not sure if we should celebrate the news with some delicious nonfat Greek yogurt or half a pint of Häagen-Dazs in bed.
