Kristen Stewart has been a longtime collaborator with Chanel. She has worn countless Chanel looks on the red carpet and on magazine covers and made them look very edgy. She is a front row regular at the house’s fashion shows and she has appeared in numerous campaigns. She has appeared in the brand’s eyewear campaign, accessories adverts, and clothing campaigns. Kristen evens starred in a short film for the brand’s Métiers d’Art fashion show. It seems like she has done it all for Chanel, but she actually has not been in a makeup campaign until now.
That’s right, Kristen is the new face of Chanel makeup. She appears in the Collection Eyes 2016 ad campaign. The campaign will launch in March, but Chanel gave us a preview of the campaign. WWD reports that Kristen appears in a series of portraits that are meant to represent the different facets of the modern woman. The photos were shot by Mario Testino.
In the teaser photo, it is all about Kristen’s eye. The black-and-white shot is a closeup of Kristen. Her one arm is covering her face so the only things visible are her nose, a bit of her tousled mane and one flawless smokey eye.
It’s interesting that Chanel has a black-and-white photo for a makeup campaign and that’s the one that they chose to release first. It doesn’t show off Kristen’s amazing green eyes, nor does it give us much of an idea about what the collection will be like. It’s the Kylie Jenner lip kit teaser all over again. However, we are talking about Chanel and Kristen Stewart, so you know whatever will be in the collection will be amazing and guaranteed to sell out.
Kristen isn’t only a great choice for Chanel’s makeup campaign based on her previous experience with the brand. Her makeup looks are as flawless as her fashion choices. Along with her messy hair, Kristen’s signature beauty look on the red carpet is a smokey eye. She likes to experiment with different eyeshadows colors and shapes. Furthermore, there is basically nothing that Kristen cannot pull off. She has made us want everything from yellow hair with visible roots to a sexy pirate outfit to a chipped manicure.
The only thing that is missing now is for Kristen to collaborate with Karl Lagerfeld on a capsule collection for Chanel. Maybe she can help work on designs for the next Métiers d’Art fashion show? That may not happen, but one thing that is pretty well guaranteed is that if Kristen is in Chanel’s Collection Eyes campaign, she is eventually going to be in the brand’s Collection Face, Collection Lips, and Collection Body ad campaigns too.
