I don’t know who exactly is in charge of the marketing campaign for Zoolander 2, but whoever it is deserves a medal or a cookie or something, because they’ve been blowing it out of the water. First, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson walked the runway at Valentino‘s Paris Fashion Week show in character last year, then they gave Derek Zoolander a Vogue cover and editorial shoot. Now, Kristen Wiig‘s character is in the spotlight, and if you weren’t on board with the movie before, you will be after watching her in action.
In the movie, Wiig plays Alexanya Atoz, a seemingly cosmetic surgery-happy fashion maven who, as you might remember from the trailer, has difficulty moving her face, and, well, speaking English properly. Basically, if any role of Wiig’s was going to overshadow her Gilly character from Saturday Night Live, it’s this one.
In the new promotional bit that’s been circulating the Interwebs, Wiig’s character is advertising a ~*completely natural~* beauty product called Youth Milk, the product that she claims gives her that—ahem—youthful look she’s got going on. In it, she’ll welcome you to the House of Atoz’s “booty labiatory,” where you’ll learn all about the science behind this glorious product that will help you “turn back time and be a baby again.” Because, really, isn’t that what we all want?
I don’t want to spoil the rest of it for you, but let’s just say there are some great subtitles, mispronunciations, and a cucumber or two (don’t worry about it). Watch the full ad for yourself below and bask in the radiance, effervescence, and relischisvaicedsh:
If you’ll excuse me, I’ll be out there in the great, big world, just looking for an excuse to pronounce “sponge” like “spayayonge.”
