I thought, after trying Kylie Jenner‘s Valentine’s Day Lip Kit shades, after all of the anticipation, I’d be able to control myself a little bit better when new shades inevitably came out. As it turns out, I have the self-control and will-power of a newborn baby, because Kylie Jenner’s just announced her newest Lip Kit shade, and I’m actually one Instagram post away from straight-up losing my mind.
Kylie’s been teasing this orange-red shade both on her personal Instagram and on the official Kylie Cosmetics page for a couple of weeks now, but she made it official yesterday when she posted the packaging, with the name of the newest color in clear view:
It’s 22! Considering the apparent theme with the names of all of the other colors, I was kind of expecting something like Sunset K, Pumpkin K, or Kendall K—anything with “K” at the end, really. But a number? Who knows what this could mean? Maybe it’s in reference to Taylor Swift (God I hope not, we’d never hear the end of it)?
The shade, as we could see from Kylie’s teaser photos, is a matte orange-red, though I’ll admit it looks to be a pretty pure orange in the tube:
It looks like Kylie might be making her first foray into seasonal makeup collections, because if this color doesn’t scream “spring” to you, then I don’t know what will.
Cosmo reports that Kylie posted an update to her app notifying her followers that 22, as well as a restock (!!) of “a few other popular Kylie Lip Kit colors” will be available on KylieCosmetics.com as of 6 p.m. EST today, February 29, so I’d keep my eyes and fingers glued to my computer if I were you.
Or, better yet, you could play the better-safe-than-sorry game and start shopping for dupes now! That’s what I did, mostly because I don’t think my already fragile mental state would be able to handle another Kylie Lip Kit-related loss. Here are five dupes for 22 that won’t break the bank (or your heart):
Of course, what would a Kylie Lip Kit dupe guide be without at least one ColourPop shade? You know, for a while there, I was starting to believe Kylie when she said that she didn’t pull directly from ColourPop’s shade library, but given the ease with which I seem to be able to find perfect dupes for her Kits, I may start singing a different tune.
I’ve yet to actually try these liquid lipsticks for myself. Don’t get me wrong, I pick every single one of them when I go the drugstore on, but I’ve practicing this new thing called willpower wherein I don’t buy every lipstick in sight. It’s hard not to, though, especially when Gigi Hadid is the spokeswoman for the collection.
Kat Von D’s liquid lipstick is incredible, and if you haven’t tried it yet, I highly suggest you get on that shit. That’s all I have to say about that.
There are those out there who say that Anastasia Beverly Hills makes the best liquid lipstick around, and there are those, like me, who haven’t tried it and still stick to our Stila guns. Let your conscience be your guide. This particular shade looks like it could be slightly redder than Kylie’s, but hey, you take what you can get.
You know it’s a weird world when you can get a MAC lipstick for less than one created by someone related to Kim Kardashian.
