Another day, another celebrity getting called too fat after being accused of having an eating disorder like, a year ago.

This time, it’s Lady Gaga who has gained some weight — even according to her:

“I’m dieting right now, because I gained, like, 25 pounds,” Gaga told radio host Elvis Duran. “I really don’t feel bad about it, not even for a second. I have to be on such a strict diet constantly. It’s hard because it’s a quite vigorous show, so I tend to bulk up, get muscular, and I really don’t like that. So I’m trying to find a new balance.”

So, on the bright side, she’s not apologizing for gaining weight nor is she criticizing her own body, which is really refreshing — although I imagine Lady Gaga doesn’t exactly say “sorry” very often, anyway. I’m so glad that she isn’t being a terrible role model by promising the world that she’s only eating Saltines and drinking water flavored with diuretics. On the contrary, she’s discussed her love for pizza and pasta openly.

However, there’s criticism coming from a different direction, too. Some people believe she’s simply propping up her father’s New York restaurant, Joanne Trattoria NYC (which, for the record, has a pitiful website when you consider how many people would lunge at the chance to masterfully design anything for anyone related to Lady Gaga). But seriously — who cares if she’s advertising her dad’s restaurant? What daughter wouldn’t advertise for their parent’s business? “Yeah, dad, I know I have 29 million followers on Twitter but you should probably just post on Craigslist.”

Anyway, I think she’s handled the criticism very well. Plus, it helps to debunk that spiel that seemingly every celebrity gives about their svelte figures being due to busy schedules (all of us with jobs are busy and we do not all weigh 120 so, uh, does not compute).  I imagine Gaga herself is one of the busiest in the biz, yet she’s put on some weight just like the majority of us have at some point.

After all, she could just have the munchies.
