Last month, the world learned that the long-anonymous father to supermodel Linda Evangelista’s son was none other than fashion baron François-Henri Pinault, who is best known as chief exec of PPR (the French multinational holding company that owns Gucci, YSL, Balenciaga, McQueen, etc.) and Salma Hayek’s partner.
Yesterday, Evangelista was in Manhattan family court to protest that Pinault hasn’t given her a cent in child support. Now, she’s demanding… $46,000.
Although the judge’s were none too sympathetic to her request for $7,500 in “vacation expenses,” it probably makes some sense that the kid needs bodyguards. And nannies, because–according to Evangelista–being beautiful is a huge effort. Says the Post:
“How many hours a week do you work?” the judge asked the model at one point.
“On days when I do not work, I am working on my image,” Evangelista answered, her voice soft, and tinged with defensiveness. “I have to hit the gym. I have beauty appointments. I have to work toward my next job and maintaining my image,” she said, “just like an athlete.”
“When I work, it can be a 16-hour day,” she added.
On the one hand, it seems completely unfair to judge Evangelista asking for what she needs as a single mom. Moreover, Pinault can probably afford it. But, uh, that seems like a lot.
