It’s been a minute since Lucy Hale changed her hair color, but the time has come again. After chopping her hair into a lob in 2014, only to shorten even more this past summer, Lucy has made the transition away from her signature deep-brown locks to a stunning blonde shade. Bless this day. Bless us all.
Here’s Lucy celebrating the glory of her new ‘do:
The caption reads,
“I dye. Thank you @kristin_ess for temporarily making me the blonde alter ego I’ve always wanted to be.”
It looks as though she might have slightly lightened her eyebrows, too, which I absolutely love. It always irks me when people change their hair color but ignore their eyebrows—the overall look just ends up seeming unfinished. Sadly, though, the key word in the caption is “temporary;” Lucy’s stylist, Kristen Ess, told Refinery29:
“Lucy is in between filming her new movie, Dude, and going back to PLL. She gets these short breaks, and that’s when we get to play with her look… She doesn’t get to keep it, because, as we all know, Aria is a brunette babe through and through. “
Unfortunately, it’s only a matter of time before we have to say our goodbyes to this new look, but at least we can enjoy it while it’s here, right?
This isn’t the first hair color change of Lucy’s we’ve fallen in love with, though. From her original dark-haired debut into our hearts and souls to this most recent color, she’s had a veritable parade of colors. Here are our all-time faves, ranked from great to greatest:
1. Blonde Ombre
I love it when dark-haired ladies can pull off an ombre, or even a sombre, and it brings so much life to such a short, sassy haircut.
2. The Lob
Remember the glory days of the lob? It was pretty much the biggest deal in the world when Khloe Kardashian chopped hers into existence, and I’ll admit that my heart broke a little when Lucy cut hers (I have this thing called I Hate It When People With Long, Beautiful Hair Think It’s Okay To Cut It Off Sydrome. There’s no cure.), but she pulled it off like a boss.
3. The Bob
This is the cut we (and by “we,” I, of course, mean Lucy, because we’re not all living our lives vicariously through her hair decisions, right???) have been living with, and it just suits her perfectly.
4. The OG Long Locks
Like I said, as great as her changing styles are now, there ain’t nothing like the original.
And, of course, my favorite Lucy look of all time was the brief period wherein she dyed her hair a beautiful shade of auburn red. I’m of the personal belief that everyone should try out being a ginger at least once in their life, and I’m glad Lucy gave it a shot, even if she didn’t keep it for that long. At least we still have Emma Stone and Julianne Moore, though.
What do you think of Lucy’s new color? What do you think she’ll do next? Tell us in the comments!
