This is Mikel Ruffinelli. Though she stands just five-foot-four, Mikel is a size 30 at 420-pounds and has an eight-foot circumference. Which means Mikel Ruffinelli has just set the new world record for World’s Largest Hips, per the World Record Academy.
Although Ruffinelli earns around a grand per shoot modelling for a Big Beautiful Women website, her size also makes day-to-day chores difficult. She must drive a truck to accommodate her size, for example, she must use “a reinforced chair” at home and she struggles to fit through doors and hallways.
She attributes her weight gain to having four children: “I put it down to my pregnancies,” she said. “I don’t see why else the weight would go to my hips, although, I do eat lots.” That apparently translates to around 3,000 calories a day.
Still, she has no problem with her weight.
“I love my shape and see no reason to diet because I don’t have health problems,” Mikel told the Daily Mail (who have lots of not remotely exploitative photos). “Men don’t fancy skinny girls, they like an hourglass figure.”
…That’s horseshit, by the way. Different people like different things. But whatever, here’s some video:
Also, in related pun news, Ruffinelli’s husband, Reggie Brooks, describes his wife of ten years as having “a sweet disposition about her that really attracted me to her,” before adding, “I like to tell people all the time, ‘I have a license to work with heavy equipment.” Dude.
Not really sure how to feel about this story, by the way. While it seems bizarre to celebrate having the world’s largest anything, it seems nasty and fat shaming to be negative about it, too. Anything in between seems concern troll-y. So, how to strike a balance?
Maybe we can just agree that the Daily Mail‘s lurid, harshly lit coverage of anything always leaves a bad taste?
