Miley Cyrus led us on a miniature Odyssey Sunday night, in a series of (initially) cryptic tweets. First, “tik tok tik tok,” next, a photo of stylist Chris McMillan menacing Miley’s messy bun with a pair of shears, followed by “It’s happening.” Soon after, the full blown narcissism began, with one photo after another of the singer’s new asymmetrical bleached pixie:
Amidst tweet after tweet about how happy she felt–“Never felt more me in my whole life ❤”–she tried to cut the haters off at the pass: “if you don’t have something nice to say don’t say anything at all. my hair is attached to my head no one else’s and it’s going bye bye.”
Look, we’ve been known to enjoy a big scorpion bowl of Miley haterade. Moreover, a lot of that irritation comes from her seemingly bottomless need for attention. However, we think 1) she’s completely right that her “hair is attached to [her] head” and she can do whatever she wants with it and 2) it kind of… really suits her? Like, she looks pretty great:
A lopsided pixie is hard to pull off. So is bleached hair. Even the Black Lips approve.
Maybe we’re having an uncharacteristically supportive streak? We feel like we should be against the “mall punk” aesthetic but…
We’re for it. Oh, and better luck next time, Taylor Swift.
