One phrase I never grow tired of typing is “according to the Daily Mail,” because heaven knows that phrase rarely (if ever) is followed by something other than absurdity. Well, according to the Daily Mail, Nicole Kidman has come down with a horrible symptom known as being “puffy looking”–i.e. she’s had cosmetic work done recently–as evidenced by photos from the premiere of her upcoming biopic Grace of Monaco. It kind of feels like when people accuse stars of being pregnant every three months because they occasionally wear sweatshirts.
According to the Daily Mail (there I go again!), Nicole showed up to the Cannes premiere of Grace of Monaco looking less than like a 19-year-old Victoria’s Secret model, which is basically a crime punishable by death and/or a lengthy exploration into what makes a lady “puffy.” Apparently, Nicole “retained her slight-yet-noticeable facial swelling” at the premiere, to which she wore a beautiful white crepe dress from Altuzarra with a pair of lovely matching Elie Saab pumps.
The Daily Mail piece, which is titled “What has happened to Nicole’s face? Kidman, 46, retains oddly puffy visage as she continues to promote her new film Grace Of Monaco in Cannes,” details all the ways in which Nicole “made headlines after appearing puffy” which is hilarious because they’re literally referring to…their own headline. They are drawing attention to the Daily Mail‘s own headlines, written by its own writers. But okay, we’ll play along.
I personally loved her look, including her “puffy face” which I am 90% sure looks a little more pursed than usual because she is staring into the bright sun, squinting, and not smiling with teeth. I mean, I’m no doctor, but I definitely make some weird faces whilst trying to keep my eyes open in the sunshine. And when you’re at an event with tons of cameras around you, wouldn’t you want to keep your eyes open as best as you can?
I’m not saying Nicole Kidman has never had any cosmetic procedures done; I’m just saying I do not think she looks remotely “puffy” or odd in an alarming way whatsoever here. But what do you folks think? Am I just in denial here?
