Peanut butter and jelly is good in sandwiches. We also found out that it was a great source of inspiration for makeup palettes when Too Faced launched its Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette. It turns out the classic sandwich combination also makes for great rainbow hair color inspiration.
Allure reported that hairstylist Megan Schipani from the Instagram @shmeggsandbaconn coined the term when she posted a photo of a client’s peanut butter and jelly dye job. In the post, she explains that the client wanted to keep her hair natural, but she wanted something fun. The result? Peanut butter and jelly hair.
Megan used Wella Hair colors to add peanut-butter-like caramel streaks on top of a dark purple base. The chunky highlights pop against the purple and definitely have a PB&J vibe.
There have been a lot of rainbow hair color combinations, but most of them focus on pastel or bright colors as opposed to mixing in more natural tones. Peanut butter and jelly hair successfully merges a unicorn mane with more natural streaks, and we’re all here for it.
