We can always count on Korea to give us interesting new skincare trends and products. Pressed serums, splash masks, aqua peelers, essences—the list goes on. Korea is also great for nail trends. Remember mirror manicures? The latest look that everyone is loving involves another unique form of decoration, but it isn’t as sharp. Pom-pom nail art is the latest manicure to grace the hands of cool girls.

It’s time to go digging in your craft box once again in the name of beauty. The pom-pom nail trend involves gluing pom-poms to your nails as fun accents. It’s quirky, it’s cute, and it will make it impossible for you and other people to resist touching your nails.

There’s a surprisingly wide variety of looks you can create with just pom-poms. Mini pom-poms that are about the size of gemstones are popular because they are a cute addition to your nail but don’t overpower it. Some people add a pom-pom or two to all their nails while others use the pom-poms on a single accent nail. Placing your pom-poms at the base of your nail where your moon manicure would be is one of the most popular looks.

You can also get completely different looks depending on what color nail polish you choose to wear with your pom-pom manicure. A monochromatic look is very pretty, especially in pastel shades. Choosing bold pom-poms and contrasting them with equally bold polishes is a statement look. And who says you have to leave your nails one color? You don’t want to distract from the pom-poms, but a glitter top coat or a print like polka dots or stripes makes your manicure even more fun. You can also combine pom-pom nails with other trends such as sweater nails or the wild furry manicure trend that everyone was talking about at Fashion Month.

The only downside to pom-pom nails is some things would prove difficult to do when you have fuzzy balls attached to your nails. Washing your hands without ruining your manicure would be a challenge. And you would be wise to avoid eating anything messy or sticky with your hands. Chicken wings and pom-pom nails don’t seem like they would be the best of friends.

Not being able to eat messy finger foods aside, pom-pom nails are a fun trend. Unlike a lot of nail art looks, anyone can do it. You do not need to have a BA in Fine Art to complete the look. All you need is some polish and some pom-poms. Start looking through your craft box, now.
