The last time I got a haircut, I asked a couple of my friends what they thought I’d look like with short hair and got their opinions before I went through with it. They were right, of course: the short hair was a good idea, but skipping the bangs was an even better one. Now, that “asking friends for advice” thing can go one step further – a plastic surgeon named Dr. Robert Freund has created a website called Post Your Face where people can vote on whether someone should get plastic surgery.
For example, “Anonymous,” a 22-year-old New Yorker, is featured on the site’s homepage with some side shots of her face and a question about whether she should get a nose job. You can click on a green bar labeled “Go for it!” or a pink one labeled “Don’t do it!” In case reading isn’t your strong suit, the buttons also have thumbs-up and thumbs-down icons, respectively. So far, 12 people think Anonymous should get her nose done, and 7 people don’t. Too bad there’s not a “Dear Anonymous, you look beautiful just the way you are” button. But I guess Dr. Freund wouldn’t have as many clients if that happened.
