Have you seen Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg when she was young? You are about to. And, this should not surprise you, but she was really pretty:

Ruth Bader Ginsberg 1953

I mean, it shouldn’t surprise you because it is possible to be extremely intelligent and extremely pretty. However, this case in particular should not surprise you, because it’s completely obvious from Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s bone structure that she was always a fox. She still looks great, and she is 79.

This picture is from her when she was a senior at Cornell in 1953. It’s to accompany a profile in The New Yorker this week, in which the writer states that:

“She is tiny—about five feet tall and a hundred pounds—and her face at rest conveys a pursed-lipped skepticism. She dresses with a dowager’s elegance, often in exotic shifts acquired on her travels around the world; she sometimes wears long gloves indoors.”

I love that anyone is still wearing long gloves indoors outside of a production of Gypsy. And I love that seemingly the one person who is doing that is Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who, in addition to advancing women’s rights throughout the years, managed to look like a 1950’s movie star with perfectly waved hair.
