I have to say, ever since the movie poster for the live-action Cinderella came out all those months ago, I’ve been a little wary of character posters. Much like every other print or editorial, the actresses tend to be Photoshopped to oblivion, especially around the waistline, or they’re posed with their asses to the camera while the men that accompany them get to look fierce and strong (cough cough the Divergent movie poster cough). Luckily, that didn’t happen this time: the character posters for The Huntsman Winter’s War are out, and they are AMAZEBALLS.
The Hunstman, for those who don’t know, is essentially the prequel to the 2012 Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Kristen Stewart (which, BTW, was probably one of the worst live-action adaptations of a Disney movie I’ve ever seen), and it’s slated to premiere in April 2016. The four featured characters in are The Evil Queen (Charlize Theron), The Warrior (Jessica Chastain), The Ice Queen (Emily Blunt), and The Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth). We’ll save the gratuitous eye candy for the end of the post, because really, we need to talk about the badass ladies of this film. Just look at them:
Are these not absolutely incredible? From the looks of it, the Evil Queen was already working the gold leaf hair trend before it was cool, and despite the fact that Emily Blunt is giving me some serious Legolas vibes, there’s no denying the fierceness. The real star of these photos, though, has to be Jessica Chastain. Though the character poster is vaguely reminiscent of Jennifer Lawrence‘s posters for the final Hunger Games movie, it’s not a trope I’ll ever tire of. We need more strong female characters like the one Chastain appears to be portraying, and it’s great to see more of them playing major parts in tales that used to center around relatively helpless Disney princesses.
And now, your daily dose of hot man:
I’ll never get tired of looking at Chris Hemsworth, even if that hair does look like it’s begging for some deep conditioner.
