Shopping at Sephora is a time-honored tradition among those of us who love makeup and skin care products. We all feel the same way about a trip to the holy land: excited, eager, and maybe just a bit apprehensive. But in this case, it’s not the journey that matters–it’s what we do once we reach our destination that really counts.

This is what your Sephora shopping style says about you.

The “woman on a mission” shopper

You’re a very direct person, and you don’t believe in beating around the bush. The way that you approach shopping–get in, get what you need, and get out–is the same way approach work, school, and relationships. You have exactly four friends, and sometimes you wonder if that’s too many. You know you can come across as ruthless, but what you really are is highly disciplined and determined. The word “sidetracked” isn’t even in your vocabulary. You’re a big believer in the power of a list.

The “oh, what the hell, I’ll take one of everything!” shopper

You have a really hard time making decisions on your own–you always have to consult with your mom, your best friends, and your psychic first. You also have a hard time saying no to people. You just feel so bad about it! You’re pretty sure the staff at Sephora can smell your weakness, because you always seem to leave the store broke and bogged down by more tubes of lipstick than you could ever need or want. But that’s OK–anything you don’t use, you can give away as presents. So really, it’s a good thing that you spent so much money, right?

The “wandering in circles for hours” shopper

As a kid, you were often described as “sweet, but a little spacey.” Come to think of it, not much has changed. You live your life with your head in the clouds, and you’re not mad about it. When you hit Sephora, it’s like stepping into a dream: there’s a lot happening around you, but you can hardly make sense of anything. And so you wander and graze, picking products up and putting them back down aimlessly. If you’re being honest, “picking things up and putting them back down” kind of accurately describes your approach to jobs, hobbies, and cities. You’re not one for commitment.

The “kid in a candy store” shopper shoppingDid somebody say Sephora? You fucking love Sephora! You love everything about it! There’s so much makeup there, and you love all of the colors and the smells, and everyone who works there is so pretty. You’re just so happy when you’re at Sephora. Come to think of it, you’re pretty happy most of the time. You just love life, and you want to experience as much of it as you can. You love traveling, dogs, learning new languages, painting each of your fingernails a different color, and stand-up comedy. Your motto is “say yes first, ask questions later.”

Growing up, you never had much interest in wearing makeup. You’re just starting to drink the Kool-Aid now, and you can’t believe how much there is to know. You’re used to feeling a little overwhelmed though–you feel like you’re in over your head at work every day, too. You can’t shake the feeling that your life is passing you by a little too quickly–like, how is it possible that 1995 was 20 years ago? Weren’t you just in the fifth grade, like, last week? You don’t deal well with change. Ferris Bueller is your spirit animal.
