Serena Williams' manicure for Wimbledon

Tennis is not a sport with cool uniforms. I mean, no sport needs to have particularly awesome or epic gear for players to show off their incredible athleticism, but tennis, in particular, is a bit on the boring side. And the top-of-the-top of tennis competitions, Wimbledon is famous for having an “all white” rule disallowing players from donning colorful sportswear. Even Roger Federer‘s super cool orange-soled shoes were banned from the court.

Fortunately, some tennis players are apparently more creative in how they display their personality through their appearances. While we still do not particularly like Serena Williams given her appalling comments regarding the Steubenville victim recently, we must admit that her nails on the court (shown above) were pretty fantastic.

Even better than Williams’ cool manicure: Bethanie Mattek-Sands‘ hair. SO. GREAT.

A more styled look at it paired with a beautiful dress.

As I have mentioned plenty of times before, I had blue hair for a long time and am a huge proponent of it, especially seeing it with evening wear or athletic wear (as opposed to just via Instagram ~*fairy photos*~ or something). In the event you’re thinking of getting it but aren’t sure if you can “pull it off”: do it. Just check out how awesome Mattek-Sands looks here!

Other players wore fun beauty trends, too, such as Heather Watson. The UK pro received a lovely gold manicure courtesy of her sponsor Benefit.

Fellow players Maria Kirilenko and Laura Robson sported bright neons for their matches which, I presume, coordinated super well with all the tennis balls.

A brightly-adorned high five to all the women who wore snazzy styles! We just hope Wimbledon doesn’t wind up adding another rule about hair, makeup and nails for next year as a result.
