It has been a little over two months since the world was collectively saddened to learn of iconic actor Robin Williams‘ passing. We mourned by contemplating his endlessly poignant words, remembering his most iconic roles, and thinking of how his art influenced our childhoods. However, none of us truly can understand how hard it has undoubtedly been on his immediate family, including his daughter Zelda, whose recent tribute tattoo for her father literally brought me to tears all over again.
Zelda posted a photo of her new tattoo done at Shamrock Social Club Inc. to Instagram, and it’s absolutely beautiful. It’s a hummingbird with the numbers “7.21.51” underneath, for her father’s birth date. According to E!, “attendees were given wristbands that featured a hummingbird image and included the phrase, ‘Love the Stillness of Life'” at the reception for Robin Williams’ funeral. The tattoo’s placement on her hand under her thumb is lovely, and (in my opinion) is a highly underused spot. Accompanying the photo was this caption:
For poppo. Thank you to the incomparable @dr_woo_ssc for so beautifully bringing my reminders to life. I’ll always put my hand out to shake with a smile. As for this Instagram, I don’t know in what capacity I’ll continue using it in the future, but I’m leaving it up regardless so that fake accounts hoping to use my name or misuse my family’s photos will get no traction. To be clear, this is MY ONLY account. Publicly, I have Twitter, and this. If other people post quotes and photos claiming to be me or my family, please, do not send them personal information or click links, even for charity. They could be utilizing sympathy to scam you. For the record, no one has ever or will ever speak for me but me. Thank you.
After Robin’s death, Zelda tweeted this incredibly poignant tribute to her Twitter:

Unfortunately, a bunch of garbage humans drove her off the Internet with taunts and awful images, which is presumably why there were so many stipulations and notices in her caption for the tattoo on Instagram. Hopefully, this time everyone can just unanimously agree to either honor her mourning in all its hummingbird beauty or simply leave her alone.
