The #BECCABeauties backstage at @Zimmermann #NYFW wearing the latest highlighter trend – the reverse highlight! Instead of focusing on the cheekbones, makeup director @jodieboland applied Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Pearl to the center of the face: forehead, bridge of the nose, Cupid's bow and chin. #BECCAGlow✨ ?: @sweatengine
We can always count on New York Fashion Week for some amazing beauty looks. There have been countless gorgeous makeup ideas at the Fall 2017 shows, but one of the standouts so far was the reverse highlighter look at the Zimmermann show because it reminded us that highlighter isn’t just for strobing on your cheekbones.
Makeup Director Jodie Boland used BECCA Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Pearl ($41) down the center of models’ faces. The liquid highlighter was applied to the forehead, bridge of nose, cupid’s bow and chin. Going against everything that you have probably been doing with your highlighter, the cheeks were left bare.
While you might think that a highlighted forehead and nose would result in a greasy-looking complexion, it doesn’t. The look at the Zimmermann show was fresh-faced and fun, and it did not look like a model needed to wash her face.
The look is also a softer, more subtle idea compared to the extreme highlighted cheeks that are all over Instagram. The look is more about that coveted lit-from-within glow rather than futuristic-inspired strobing.
If you’re looking to switch up your beauty look, this is the way to do it. Yes, it will feel very weird putting the product on your forehead and nose instead of your cheeks, but it’s worth overcoming the mental block to try the look out. Chances are you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the results.
