Have you ever wondered what various female superheroes would look like in outfits that covered more than their bathing suit places? Personally, I have not, because I am a disgusting perv who wants all fictional characters to be as naked as possible at all times. But apparently I’m in the minority, as a series of drawings of fully clothed superheroines by comic book/webcomic artist Michael Lee Lunsford is swiftly going viral on the internet.
Writing on his Tumblr, Lunsford says he did this as “an exercise in character design,” not as the result of “some moral code I’m trying to push on you…Just showing what can be done with a costume breaking outside the barrier of the norm.” He elaborates that he was “attempting to clothe the heroines nearly all the way and not making them painted-on, while still keeping the look of their original costumes in some way.” I’m no comics expert, but I think the drawings came out very nicely. And I know he says he wasn’t pushing any kind of agenda, but it’s still cool to see what superheroines would look like if they weren’t dressed super sexy at all times. It’s totally possible for them to look cool and powerful without showing a bunch of skin. The enlightened superhero world of the future has room for both the scantily clad and the modestly attired, I think.
