Dude, if you were Rush Limbaugh, don’t you think this is a week where you would step back and say to yourself “maybe I’ll only say nice things about young ladies, now? Maybe I will be a gentleman, for the time being?”
Or you could not to that at all. You could just talk about how awful they are, these young women, running around, going to college, doing “things”. If you had no common sense whatsoever.
Rush Limbaugh most recent target is Tracie McMillan, the author of The American Way Of Eating who went undercover at a series of fast food restaurants to learn more about what it takes to eat well in America. So, a good, socially concious book considering the obesity epidemic in America. And one which, understandably, won some awards.
Limbaugh is displeased about this, because she is… educated? What with her BA, and all? He remarks:
“What is it with all of these young single white women, overeducated – doesn’t mean intelligent. For example, Tracie McMillan, the author of this book, seems to be just out of college and already she has been showered with awards, including the 2006 James Aronson Award for Social Justice Journalism. Social justice journalism. This woman who wrote the book on food inequality, food justice, got an award for social justice journalism.”
“This really intense dismissal of women by someone like Rush Limbaugh, who’s considered an authority by a lot of people — that, to me, is distressing. I just wasn’t expecting anybody to say flat out that my work wasn’t valid because I’m a single woman.”
