NBC is breaking the news that parents have worse diet and exercise habits than adults without kids. In a study done by researchers at the University of Minnesota, they report, it was discovered that young children wreak havoc on your once-healthy lifestyle:

Mothers in particular had higher body mass indexes than women without children. They also reported drinking more sugar-sweetened drinks and eating more total calories and saturated fats, compared to young women without children.

Moms in the study also didn’t exercise as often as women without children.

It’s shocking, isn’t it? I really can’t think of any reason that suddenly, with the introduction of kids to your life, you’d suddenly have less time to exercise and be more inclined to guzzle soda and stuff less-than-healthy snacks in your face instead of taking the time to prepare a nice, healthy plate of mixed greens.
