Famous soap opera One Life to Live gave JWoww a real acting job, and she seems to be taking it really seriously. The Jersey Shore star and onetime fashion designer )though aren’t they all?) was supposed to stage slap one of her costars, but she’s such a dedicated Method actor that she for-real slapped him instead. Or maybe she thought a stage slap is what happens when you slap a person while on a stage. Both are plausible.
According to Access Hollywood, JWoww née Jenni Farley “is set to play Nikki, a bartender at the nightclub Shelter, on the rebooted soap, heading to Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes on April 29.”
Stunt casting has its place, but it’s always a little awkward when reality TV stars try their hand at real TV acting. Luckily for the show, JWoww’s role probably won’t demand much range beyond flirting, pretending to mix cocktails, and slapping people. And those are things she’s good at already! She might even be a bit too good at them, because the production company says she “got so into character she forgot the acting part of it while rehearsing an on-screen slap with co-star Josh Kelly, who plays Cutter Wentworth.”
But hey, they got a press release out of the situation, and that is pretty much the ideal result of casting a Jersey Shore star on your TV soap opera, so good for them.
In related news, Cutter Wentworth is an amazing soap opera name.
