It doesn’t matter whether you are going back to school or not, Labor Day is an emotional time for us all. It is the last week of summer. It is the last time when some people think that they can wear white and it is usually the last weekend you go the beach. Sniff. It is a bittersweet holiday. That being said, you still want to make the most of it. It is a three-day weekend after all. You want to bust out the cocktails and fire up the barbecue and party like summer is never going to end.

These are the emotions that everyone goes through on Labor Day.

1. Thrilled


It’s the long weekend! No work! No getting up early! No listening to your co-worker talk too loudly on their phone! Three full days of sleeping in and fun times are coming right up.

2. Fearful

What if it rains all weekend? That would be the worst. How could you enjoy the summer sun when it is hidden behind clouds and drizzle? That cannot happen. You must not think about that, and you must not think about what would happen if your plans fall through.

3. Angry


Why is everywhere so busy? Shouldn’t the majority of people have left town already? Who are all of these people still sticking around? You did not anticipate this. Everything is going to take three times as long now and those are precious minutes of your weekend that you do not want to waste.

4. Happy


The sky is blue. The water is warm. The radio is blaring. You don’t have a care in the world. Forget about deadlines, mergers, paperwork, and all of that boring stuff. You have everything you need right here. #Blessed

5. Hungry

Where is the food at? All of this enjoying life has made you hungry. You could eat about 5 lbs worth of hot dogs. And someone better have remembered the fries…and the cake…and the gelato.

6. Gross

No. More. Hot dogs. You do not want to see one ever again. Same goes for hamburgers, corn, and anything that is skewered and cooked over an open flame. You also think that you have finally reached your fill of ice cream. That last cone was a mistake. It’s actually best if we just stop talking about food right now.

7. Tired


What a weekend. You can barely move after all of that swimming and sitting in the same position by the campfire for hours. It was also definitely a mistake to go for a run in the morning. Is it too late for a coffee? You still have a few hours left in the weekend, and you want to make the most of them.

8. Depressed


Summer is over. Your vacation is over. Your life is over. Okay, that might be a bit too dramatic, but that is how you feel right now. Why does the summer have to end? OMG, before you know it, it is going to be snowing outside. Now that is a depressing thought.
