Have you ever gotten the urge to just pony up some money and buy some art? Sure, art’s expensive, but so was that $90 skirt you bought after brunch last weekend. Add a few of those together, and you can buy a substantial amount of art, which is forever. I know I’ve been having some art lust lately.
And if your taste in art runs towards the humorous and the pop cultural, look no further than this excellent little series by Kiersten Essenpreis, which shows what various (mostly terrifying) movie and TV characters might get into on their days off. Painted in a simple and graphic style, the series includes such gems as “Alien Takes Jonesy To The Vet,” “Michael Irons The Jumpsuit,” and “Pinhead’s Weekend Side Job.” Better yet, many of them are available as prints, so you won’t have to break the bank just to get a little cultcha up on your sad, bare walls.
