Apparently gender based spending is hurting retailers, because women refuse to spend! Because:
Women are far more pessimistic about the economic outlook, with just 21% of women surveyed prepared to say the economy was “strong” (compared to 38% of men) and 24% of women claiming the economy was “going downhill” (compared with 21% of men).
According to CBA chief economist Michael Blythe, the pessimism appears to be directly contributing to depressed retail conditions.
So I guess… women are educated about what’s going on with the economy, don’t falsely believe it to be super strong right now? Women are such Debbie Downers. But that’s no reason not to go shopping! Why aren’t you shopping right now?
