Apparently, there is a worldwide action taking place, that has the goal of ruining my mornings.

It’s all the brainchild of Adbusters, which is building up various ideas for corporate rebellion beginning with a boycott of Starbuck’s. According to the Adbusters website:

“Between November 22-28 the whole world will light up with seven days of Carnivalesque Rebellion[…]we’ll need a plethora of actions that cannot be dismissed as petty acts of vandalism[…]To get the ball rolling here’s a personal plunge you may want to take right away: Vow never to walk into a Starbucks ever again. Instead, search out the most interesting indie coffee shop around where you live and work.”

Hopefully you get the idea, what with all those added […] — basically, Adbusters is promoting the idea of a worldwide corporate boycott in November that will be the culmination of smaller acts of…activism…starting with this idea to not set foot in a Starbuck’s.

Call me a cynic, but I doubt this will catch on, or have any major impact, like when you randomly get those emails about boycotting certain gas stations, as if doing that will somehow eliminate our dependance on foreign oil and simultaneously bring our troops home form Iraq. Idealistic nonsense. But still, would you boycott Starbuck’s? Or are you a cynic and caffiene addict, like me?
