Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge pose for a photograph with their son, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, surrounded by Lupo, the couple's cocker spaniel, and Tilly the retriever (a Middleton family pet) in the garden of the Middleton family home in August 2013 in Bucklebury, Berkshire.

Remember when Kate Middleton and Prince William sat for Mario Testino in their first official portrait? Middleton wore a lovely cream Reiss dress that sold out in no seconds flat and everyone thought they looked comely and happy and the world felt whole for a fleeting second? Cool; now imagine it with a baby.

The first official portrait of the Royal Family (as opposed to the Royal Couple) has hit the internet and, unsurprisingly, the Duke and Duchess appear comely and happy as ever. Middleton, whose hair was perfect immediately after giving birth, looks her usual immaculate self. William seems relaxed in a moneyed way and their newborn, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, still has that squishy ‘new baby look’ about him.

Also, there is an adorable dog in play:
