president selfies

Today in high schoolers that give me faith in the future, an awesome kid named Chaz Rorick is took hilarious selfies dressed up like American presidents and posting them on Instagram.

It all started when Rorick was watching a documentary about Harry S Truman and noticed that they were outfit twinz. He Instagrammed a comparison photo, and it took off from there. He told Mashable:

“My dad found it funny. The next day I did Roosevelt for fun, but by the third picture I did one a day, regardless of my busyness. My friends enthusiastically encouraged the weirdness.”

My favorite part of all of this is that his friends “enthusiastically encouraged the weirdness.” What if everyone had friends who were like “Oh, you want to build steam engines after school? That’s super awesome. I’m going to go work on my own passion for a while and we can chat later” as opposed to “Steam engines? You’ll never get laid and everyone will think you’re weird.”

Being weird is awesome, and I remember that I was fortunate enough to have friends in high school who were big weirdos like me. I was exceptionally lucky to go to a high school where it didn’t work against you if you were smart, and popularity wasn’t determined by body type. As such, we could explore the bizarre crap that interested us, and become happy adult humans with strange passions–simply put, weird kids grow up to be awesome adults. Every kid should be so lucky.

Here’s a few more of our favorites:

Hats off to you, Chaz, and your awesome Presidential selfies. Keep being weird.
