It has recently become public knowledge, courtesy of this NYT article, that a dawggie of undisclosed breed was a major player in the takedown of Osama bin Laden. Time reports:

“Accompanying the Navy Seals who completed the bin Laden mission was a faithful four-legged fighter. The trained military dog, either a German Shepherd or a Belgian Malinois, was attached to a human Seal and lowered from a helicopter into the compound. Wearing canine armor, he went along to sniff out hidden explosives or, if necessary, find a secret room of bin Laden’s.”

I suppose it’s not entirely appropriate to bestow the honor of “daily adorbs” on this pup; I don’t think that military personnel like to have their combat operations called cute or adorable in the same way that men don’t like to have their penis called the same. Besides, we don’t even have a picture of him to do the story justice.

But come onnnn. It’s a military puppy! He’s so trained and good and cute! And now, he’s an American hero.
