I don’t know about you, but normally when I hear the word “web series” I immediately tune out and begin thinking about when I’m going to eat next. (That’s my go to distraction thought.)

But this series, called “Awkward Black Girl,” is different. Possibly one of the most hilarious things to hit the internet of late, it’s very refreshingly not done by a group of white guys (yes, ensemble de Judd Apatow/The Lonely Island, I’m looking at you), and actually incorporates — wait for it! — original humor and material.

The woman behind it is producer/director/writer Issa Rae.  She’s done eight episodes altogether, all of which are up on her website. Here’s the first one:
